The National Park Service is searching for a successor to Mark Hardgrove, who retired this month as Superintendent of the Virgin Islands National Park.
Hardgrove worked with the NPS for nearly 42 years, including the last five years on St. John. He plans to relocate to Puerto Rico.
The job pays between $113,7635 and $147,857, according to a listing on USAjobs.gov. The right person may also qualify for some relocation money and ‘government housing’ is available.
The opening’s not for everyone. Only “current career-conditional employees” of the NPS may be considered.
Candidates should have “broad and in-depth knowledge of park management principles, methods and techniques” and the “ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups and park community.”
Applications are being accepted until August 31.
