A few dozen hardy souls braved the island's 77-degree weather to take the first annual (maybe) Polar Plunge on New Year's Day at Salt Pond.
Organized as a fund raiser for the Animal Care Center - by the Tourist Trap's Cheryl Geller, the event drew several dozen people to Salt for the fun, good time, and free Bloody Mary's (Courtesy of Geller).
One of the plungers was Shelley Augustus-Mclennan and her daughter. Kailey. "We braved the chillier than usual waters of Salt Pond ... for a good cause. The cats of the island will now have full bellies!" Donations from plungers are going to support a cat feeding station.
