All in a Snow Day's work
Feb 13, 2014
Today's 14 inches of snow was the perfect excuse to retreat to my studio and be productive. I was able to complete this brooch/pendant that features a lovely antique button I purchased in Maine a few years ago.
Mounting it had stumped me for a long time, but I was able to fasten it to a piece of brass filigree, and then attach it to a backplate, which I had previously etched, and then applied a gorgeous antique patina. I finished it with a sealer and then added a tiny Swarovski crystal flower to add a little sparkle.
The versatility of being able to use as a brooch or pendant adds extra value: it would look great on a jacket or coat or as a focal necklace on your basic black dress.
