A Bakelite buckle is the centerpiece of my newest necklace. The buckle is 70-80 years old and was discovered (by moi, in May!) in Paris. Vintage Sterling Silver spoons form the connectors on each side. You will not find another like it!
Bakelite is a century-old early plastic used to make buttons and jewelry, among other things. It is much sought after by collectors.
Great Falls Studios, the 116-member strong artists' group to which I belong, is about to publish a book that takes you inside the studios of some of our members. I was one of 16 asked to participate. My small part was to appear in a number of photographs working in my studio. Others have spent months of work to assemble this marvelous coffee table book that is a visual treat.
Please check out this video to see a preview and hear the artists talk about their work: www.GreatFallsStudios.com/book.php
Another source for Donna Barnako jewelry: Gifts at 136, Damariscotta, Maine. (Giftsat136.com). It's a lovely gallery (voted #1 by Down East readers) in a picturesque coastal village. All works were created by Maine artists.
