Like the Magic 8 Ball, which sometimes said the outlook is ‘hazy,’ it’s going to be that way on St. John Thursday evening.
The Health Department’s fogging equipment will be on island as part of the Territory’s effort to kill mosquito larvae.
Health workers will be working in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay, laying down fog and treating ponds and other water sources.
The goal is to kill the mosquito eggs, before they hatch, and breed flying critters which become possible carriers of dengue fever. The fogging effort is being made at the same time the Health Department is offering advice about how to avoid mosquito bites: wear long sleeve clothing, make sure window screens are installed, repair septic tanks, and use insect repellent.
