Google's in it for the long run

There's no doubt about there being a long-term view there. When Google hires Vic Gundotra, a general manager for platform evangelism at Microsoft and a 15-year employee, and agrees to wait for him for a year while he fulfills a non-compete clause, you have to be impressed.

Gundotra reportedly has to do come kind of "community service" during the year, which suggests that he's being paid by Microsoft during the period.  If not, is Google paying him?  Doesn't matter.

Just ask yourself, hoe many companies do you know which would wait 12 months?  Most companies need someone NOW.

Google can afford to wait.
