Carol Joynt, owner of Nathan's in Georgetown DC, has a new lease on life. Or at least a lease on the nearly-bankrupt bar/restaurant her husband, Howard, left her when he died more than a decade ago.
A journalist with writing and video skills, she forsake that career to take up the load of a business in trouble with the IRS. A, btw, she also raised their son. (TV producers ... milion dollar show idea here.) And for the past year, she has chronicled an almost psychedelic tale of keeping the place alive in the face of a lousy economy and a tough land, lord while who she really wants to be is Larry King.
Well, with the help of two pro-bono lawyers, she's got a new deal. Month-to-month, six months, five years, who knows? But she's still at it .. and she is still a great reality TV show to be done.
From French Embassy dinners to having her car repossessed, from 4-star guests at her 'pretend' interview TV show to agreeing not to take a pay heck because business sucks ... she's doing it all.
Let's hear it for the woman!
