Anchor away at Rocketboom.
The sexy, coquettish face of the Web's popular daily news video blog has been pushed overboard, she says.
In a video, Amanda Congdon explained, "My partner, Andrew Baron, is no longer interested in being my partner. And since he owns 51% and I own 49%, I have to live with that and kind of accept it." Here's the video.
Baron was not immediately available for comment.
She said she is "going to be back, but probably not tomorrow," as the centerpiece of something called "Unboomed."
Comments on Congdon's posting are predictably sympathetic. Several suggest it's a good thing she's on to something new, given Baron's recent appearance on Leo Laporte's This Week in Tech podcast. "Annoying" was among the kindest comments.
Amanda could be on to bigger and better. She's got a couple of real-TV credits, already. Rupert Murdoch's guys are probably panting after her right now. She's the Internet's first "star", appealing to the hard to find younger demographics, and the "brand" of an Internet video show that reportedly has been selling advertising time at $85,000 a week. She'll be back, and soon.
Where? Well, it probably won't be Unboomed.com. That domain was registered today (!!!) by a company identified as Green Circles, located in Essex in the United Kingdom. Domain squatting across the pond? (Unboomed.tv is available, Amanda.)
Or ... Or ... could this all be a July Fool's Joke? I do know iTunes hasn't delivered me a new Rocketboom episode since last Friday.
