Rocketboom's Congdon denies blogger's report

AmandaUpdate from Amanda, 740pm Weds.: "Rocketboom will always be free. What I said yesterday at the Syndicate Conference is something I've been saying for a couple of months. That we are exploring the option of charging approximately $4 for a premium version of the site, for additional content.  Rocketboom, in its current form, will always be free."

Earlier post: The producers of Rocketboom, the daily news vlog which sold a week of advertising for $40,000, are either super-entrepreneurial or lousy sales people.

Amanda Congdon, its anchore-ette, told the Syndicate Conference in New York they're exploring whether to charge a fee for the program, maybe $4 a month, according to a blog of her remarks at Downtheavenue.com.

It's surprising to me that after that first flurry of ads for a private ATM marketer, and reports of EarthLink buying ads, there haven't been more Rocketboom sales.

Congdon said her shows now have 350,000 unique viewers a day, half of whom are from outside the U.S.  Sounds like a market to me.
