Google to add video to news search results

Goog_1 Google's Marissa Mayer tipped USA TODAY that it's possible next week's company event for the media could bring an announcement of a new section on health.  Or at least a peek at beta test of 'Google Health.' The VP of search products and user experience called health an "interesting" topic.  She told reporters, "keep your eye out for that next week."

Mayer was less coy about a feature to be added to news search.  "The presentation of search results is going to change a lot," she said. "Video will play a big role.  If you search for how to cut up a chicken or how to change a flat tire, video is the right answer."  It would also make sense that if you search for "global warming," you would get links to text stories as well as pointers to video from CNN.

The idea of Google Health was aired late last March by Barry Schwartz at SearchEngineWatch.com. "I have read some speculation that Google's enormous database can potentially cure the world of illnesses," he wrote. "It can help be a predictive gauge for diseases to come, as well."  he also pointed to an article that showed how Google is changing medicine.

Speaking of Google, Bill Gates is sounding like Rodney Dangerfield when he talks about the company.  No respect.
